About Hala Saleem, MD

In 2003, Dr. Hala Saleem joined Modern Therapies for Mind and Soul, Inc., a Tracy, California-based practice that serves adolescents, children, and adults, providing a variety of psychiatric services. There, Dr. Hala Saleem who is a Board Certified Psychiatrist acts as Medical Director and handles a host of administrative and clinical duties. Dr. Hala Saleem provides treatment for depression, stress, bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorder, and many other mental health conditions. Dr. Hala Saleem prepared for her successful career as a psychiatrist at Dow University of Health Sciences in Karachi in 1986. After earning her Doctor of Medicine in 1992 Dr. Hala Saleem completed a year-long residency in adult psychiatry at Civil Hospital in Karachi. In 1994, she relocated to Elmhurst, New York, where she completed a three-year residency in adult psychiatry at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine’s Elmhurst Hospital Center. From 1997 to 1999, Dr. Hala Saleem undertook a fellowship in child and adolescent psychiatry at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center in New Hyde Park, New York. Following the completion of her fellowship, Dr. Hala Saleem entered private practice for a year in Redding, California, where she treated children, adolescents, and adults. In 2001, she accepted a position at the University of California, San Francisco General Hospital, where she served in various inpatient units assigned to different ethnic groups and became interested in how different cultural perceptions of psychiatry affect people’s attitudes about getting treated for mental health issues. In addition to her work with patients, Dr. Hala Saleem acted as a Clinical Instructor of Psychiatry at the hospital and served as a Team Leader in the Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. Committed to helping others, Dr. Hala Saleem supports many charities and aims to help developing countries, particularly during natural disasters. With a dedication to her community, she has assisted the Shasta County and Tehama County mental health agencies to care for patients in need. In addition, Dr. Hala Saleem has written many articles to increase mental health awareness and educate different ethnic groups on advancements in the psychiatric field.
